Today, Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13) issued the following statement:
"I’m very alarmed by Prime Minister Netanyahu's statements that the Israeli government plans to mount a full-scale incursion into Rafah without a clear plan to protect over 1 million innocent civilians currently sheltered there. Let me be clear: Hamas must be disarmed and dismantled, and Israel has the right and obligation to defend itself and protect its citizens. I implore Hamas to release all hostages back to their families and to negotiate a bilateral ceasefire in good faith. Prime Minister Netanyahu must also prioritize the release of hostages and hold off any invasion of Rafah until a practical, realistic plan to protect innocent civilians is developed."
