Congressman Nickel Meets with President Zelenskyy on Bipartisan Trip to Ukraine

Today, Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13) crossed the border on return from a bipartisan Congressional Delegation trip to Ukraine. This was the first multi-day fact finding mission for a congressional delegation since the start of the war. Congressman Nickel visited with Ukrainian troops and war crime victims in former Russian-occupied territories, and had a face-to-face conversation and working lunch with President Zelenskyy concerning US support for Ukraine.

During his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Congressman Nickel discussed the bipartisan supplemental aid package and its path forward in the House. Congressman Nickel also discussed the status of Russian oil sanctions by the United States.

“Everything I saw and heard firsthand on this trip underscored how urgently Congress must act to pass a supplemental aid package for Ukraine before the end of April,” said Congressman Wiley Nickel. “Failure to act will hand Ukraine to Russia and go down as one of the greatest failures of American foreign policy.”
