Congressman Nickel Receives “A” Rating from End Citizens United

Today, as End Citizens United released their legislative scorecard, Congressman Wiley Nickel is honored to announce his receipt of an “A” rating by the pro-democracy advocacy organization.

“Representative Wiley Nickel has been a leader in the fight to safeguard our democracy, expand voting rights, and get Big Money out of our politics to ensure that the voices of the American people are heard in Congress,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Congressman Nickel’s strong record on these critical issues has earned him an ‘A’ on our 2024 legislative scorecard and we look forward to continuing to work with him to pass them into law.”

“In a time when America is facing numerous and emboldened threats to our democracy at home and abroad, it’s never been more critical that we take a principled stance and uphold the values our nation was founded on,” said Congressman Wiley Nickel. “I’m proud to be a leader in the fight to protect our democracy from special interests, and hold legislators to the highest standard. Democracy is fragile, and only works when we all fight to protect it. I’m grateful to End Citizens United for their recognition, and look forward to continuing the fight.”

Congressman Wiley Nickel has been a leader in the fight to protect Democracy since his early days in North Carolina’s General Assembly. He has introduced bills to promote a well-functioning Congress, including the No Budget, No Pay Act, and the Security Clearance Improvement Act. He’s a proud cosponsor of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the For The People Act.

After North Carolina Republicans gerrymandered the most recent maps out of North Carolina, Congressman Nickel has become an increasingly outspoken advocate for redistricting reform, hosting public roundtables to hear from constituents about how Congress can get back in touch with the people they represent.
