Rep. Nickel Appointed to the House Committee on Financial Services

One of Two Freshmen Democrats Appointed to an Exclusive House Committee

Today, U.S. Representative Wiley Nickel (NC-13) was appointed to the House Committee on Financial Services. Rep. Nickel is one of only two Freshmen Democrats to be appointed to an exclusive House Committee in the 118th Congress.

The Committee on Financial Services, one of only four exclusive committees in the U.S. House of Representatives, oversees the nation’s housing and financial services sectors.

“I’m honored to be one of only two freshmen Democratic Members of Congress to be appointed to an exclusive committee in the 118th Congress,” said Representative Wiley Nickel. “I’m thankful to the House Steering Committee for the opportunity to serve the people of North Carolina’s 13th District from the prestigious and powerful House Committee on Financial Services. Over the next two years, I’ll be laser-focused on advancing common sense legislation and federal initiatives to lower the cost of housing, invest and expand opportunity for the middle class, and build a more just and equitable economy that works for everyone. I look forward to working with Chairman McHenry, Ranking Member Waters, and committee members on both sides of the aisle to find solutions and deliver results for the people of North Carolina’s 13th District.”

The House Committee on Financial Services considers policy related to the economy, the banking system, housing, insurance, real estate, and securities and exchanges.

In addition, the Committee on Financial Services has jurisdiction over the Federal Reserve, Treasury, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the National Credit Union Administration, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Export-Import Bank.
