Congressman Nickel Issues Statement on Over $1 Billion USDOT Investment for Raleigh to Richmond Rail Line, Other NC Rail Projects

Today, Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13) issued the following statement in response to the announcement by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) of over $1 billion for North Carolina commuter rail projects. The USDOT grants awarded include $500,000 for connections between Fayetteville and Raleigh; $500,000 for connections between Wilmington and Raleigh; $500,000 for connections between Winston-Salem and Raleigh; and $1,095,576,000 for the Raleigh to Richmond (R2R) Innovating Rail Program.

“North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District will benefit from over $1 billion in investments from USDOT for critical rail projects, including connecting Raleigh to Richmond, VA, all thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law,” said Congressman Wiley Nickel. “Bipartisan solutions deliver results and this is a big win for all North Carolinians.”
