Today, Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13) issued the following statement following another failed House Speaker vote:

"I came to Congress because pro-democracy Republicans, Independents, and Democrats made their voices heard in my district," said Congressman Wiley Nickel. “My constituents want a House Speaker who can bring Congress together, find common ground, and get things done. During his 16-year tenure in Congress, Jim Jordan has done none of that. He’s been a problem starter, not a problem solver. He’s been Donald Trump’s biggest ally in spreading false claims about the 2020 election, led the charge on January 6th, and wants to further roll back the clock on reproductive rights. Right now, we’ve got serious issues that require bipartisan solutions. I remain committed to working with Democrats and reasonable Republicans to find a path forward so we can get back to work for the American people.”
