Today, U.S. Representative Wiley Nickel (NC-13) launched a Carolina Hurricanes playoff challenge ahead of the Hurricanes first round playoff series against the New York Islanders.

Representative Nickel, a longtime Hurricanes fan and father of a Junior Canes player, challenged his fellow freshmen class and Problem Solvers Caucus colleague, Representative Anthony D’Esposito (NY-04), to a friendly wager. 

“I’m expecting a great series between the Canes and Islanders, but expect the Canes to win in 6 and get a step closer to the Stanley Cup Finals,” said Rep. Nickel. “ I look forward to enjoying some great Long Island Pizza courtesy of Team D’Esposito after the Canes send the Islanders packing.”

In case the Islanders pull off an upset over the Hurricanes, Rep. Nickel has wagered some eastern North Carolina barbecue sauce.
