Today, Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13) issues the following statement:
“The death of an American citizen in the West Bank is a tragic loss. I join my colleagues in Congress calling for an independent investigation to gather all the facts and ensure accountability.
“I maintain my support for a bilateral ceasefire, which is critical to prevent further loss of life and create the space for meaningful diplomatic solutions. I also support Israel’s right to defend itself. We must continue to push for a two-state solution that respects the right to self-determination for both Israelis and Palestinians. Only by recognizing these fundamental rights can we hope to achieve a lasting peace in the region.”
