Rep. Nickel Holds First Town Hall As Member of Congress

  • Apex Town Hall
Tonight, U.S. Representative Wiley Nickel (NC-13) held his first town hall as a member of the 118th Congress at the Apex Town Hall Council Chambers.

Representative Nickel answered an array of questions from the audience ranging from economic opportunity and entrepreneurship to affordable housing and lowering costs for working families.

“The most important part of my job is listening to the people of this district, and I'm excited to be hosting my first town hall to hear directly from you,” said Representative Nickel. “This District is one of the fastest growing Congressional districts in the Country, and it's important to talk about how everyone can have access to economic opportunity.”

During the town hall, Representative Nickel updated constituents on the work he’s been doing including being appointed to the powerful Financial Services Committee, hosting the Vice President of the United States and the Administrator of the United States Small Business Administration in North Carolina’s 13th District, and joining both the Congressional Bagel Caucus and the Congressional Dad’s Caucus.

Representative Nickel affirmed his commitment to constituent services and being an independent voice for everyone in North Carolina’s 13th District.

Further, Representative Nickel also spoke on his priorities in a divided Congress and the importance of putting politics aside to deliver results for North Carolina.

“The goal is getting things done. Every time I look at a bill, I try to think, is this worth my time? Is this something we can pass through the House in a bipartisan manner, get passed through the Senate with 60 votes, and get signed by the President,” said Representative Nickel. “Again, it’s likely going to take 60 votes in the Senate to get things done, so it's a broad coalition we need and compromise is something we are focused on.”
