Today, Congressman Wiley Nickel (NC-13) joined with Governor Roy Cooper, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan, Executive Director of The Nature Conservancy Katherine Skinner, and local community leaders to celebrate over $421 million in federal funding from the EPA for the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources to combat climate pollution.
“This Climate Pollution Reduction Grant is a big deal and another example of how the Biden-Harris Administration is delivering for North Carolina,” said Congressman Wiley Nickel. “This federal funding is an investment in our future, made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act, a cornerstone of the Biden-Harris Administration’s investing in America Agenda. I’ll continue to work with the Biden-Harris Administration, Governor Cooper, Administrator Regan, and my colleagues in Congress to build a cleaner economy, combat climate change, and create jobs for North Carolina.” During the press Conference, Governor Cooper introduced Congressman Nickel, who would go on to thank him for his service. “I know the State of North Carolina joins me in thanking Governor Cooper for his tireless advocacy and leadership for the people of our state,” said Congressman Wiley Nickel. “I’ve been proud to partner with Governor Cooper over the years during my time in the State Senate and now in Congress on the issues that matter most to North Carolinians, including our important work to protect our environment and to protect North Carolina’s natural resources.” The event is part of a series celebrating the Environmental Protection Agency’s $4.3 billion in Climate Pollution Reduction Grants nationwide, a key piece of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda. |
